This site is about the Spanish artist José Gallegos y Arnosa born
in Jerez in 1857. This short history is compiled from writings from
the painter's son, Adrian Gallegos, and from contemporary
catalogues and articles in the Italian Press.
The photographs have been taken from auction catalogues, and where possible, directly from paintings that are still in the artist's family. José Gallegos y Arnosa formed part of the Spanish school of painters living in Rome, together with Barbudo, José Villegas Cordero, Barbasan, Salinas, Poveda, and Mariano Benlliure.
